Important COVID-19 UpdateMore Info

Dear Valued Aardent Dental Centre Patient, It seems that all we hear and talk about these days is COVID-19(Coronavirus). Nevertheless, we want to reassure you that we are taking extra measures in addition to our usual stringent hygiene practices. The health of our patients, staff and anyone who enters the building is of paramount importance to us. We are taking a multitude of precautions as recommended by the appropriate health authorities (and some of our own). These include,

  • Spacing of waiting room chairs by a minimum of 1.5meters.
  • Removal of magazines, newspapers and children’s toys from the waiting room.
  • Offering patients to wait in their cars if they prefer.
  • Insisting that all people who enter the building use hand sanitiser (provided).
  • Asking all people to practice high levels of cough/sneezing hygiene.
  • Requesting that anyone with a temperature/flu like symptoms contact us and postpone their dental appointment.
  • Regularly sanitising building surfaces like doorknobs etc.
  • Requiring patients for some procedures to rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide solution (known to kill coronavirus in the mouth).
  • Availability of non-contact body temperature devices for patient screening if the situation escalates.

Please rest assured that we are open for business and able to continue our excellent level of treatment for you.

As you will be aware the situation is ever changing as will be our response. We will endeavour to keep you informed along the way.

Kindest regards,

Richard Williams

Finding a good dentist can be a challenge, especially if you are nervous or anxious about anyone looking in your mouth. However, routine dental check-ups help keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy and can prevent oral disease. But how do you find the right dentist for you?

Read on to learn more about how to find a good dentist.

Ask your friends and family for referrals

Ask family and friends for recommendations and put together a list of potential candidates. Do some research on the internet and review the dentists’ credentials. When you’ve narrowed down the list, ring each dental surgery and ask for a consult appointment to meet the dentist.

It’s essential you feel comfortable with whoever you choose, so don’t be afraid to leave the consultation if you have reservations.

Look at the dentist’s experience

Experience matters. The more experienced a dentist is with a condition or procedure, the better the experience will be for you. Extra training is essential for dental specialties like orthodontics and endodontics.

Suffer from dental anxiety? Ask the dentist about the successful approaches used with other nervous patients. The team at Aardent Dental Centre has over thirty years of experience across a wide range of dental procedures.

Australian Dental Association

The Australian Dental Association is the peak national body for dentists. The ADA has a library of information available covering the latest dentistry news and regulations.

You use the ADAs Find a Dentist Service to help locate a dentist near you.

Go online and read patient reviews

Reading online reviews can provide excellent insight into what a business is really like. Patient reviews typically reflect people’s overall experience with a dental centre.

Aardent Dental Centre is proud of our 5-star reviews on Google and encourages you to read them.

Check what your health insurance fund covers

Your health insurance fund will specify which dental services it covers; just make sure you check the details. Some private health insurers may try to convince you to use their “contracted dentists” or “preferred providers,” promising reduced out-of-pocket expenses.

However, you need to feel comfortable with whichever you choose, as dentistry is an intimate experience, so go with your gut. Don’t let your health fund dictate your choice of health care provider.

Think of choosing a dentist as a long-term proposition. Creating history with your dentist allows them to gain intimate knowledge of your oral condition, making them more likely to notice changes. It’s a mutually beneficial long-term relationship.
